# Manuscript citation-use review — 8 September 2026

The 41-entry v1.6 list contains **27 cited works and 14 background entries**.
The earlier claim of thirteen background entries was not carried forward.
Olalde 2019 is cited; Olalde 2018 is not. A surname-only search cannot make
that distinction. Hennig 2007 and Hennig 2015 both have explicit citations.
Cohen 2013 is cited as a settlement catalogue; Cohen’s kappa is a different
name occurrence. Generic references to Horn diagnostics are not additional
works, and the letters in “coded” do not cite Oded.

Reviewed absent-author and alternate-author possibilities include Hubert and
Arabie, Cavanagh and Veracini 2017 (distinct from the cited Veracini 2010),
and Sokoloff and Engerman. They remain background entries. These are judgments
about citation use in this manuscript, not about a work’s wider relevance.

The exact source manuscript is preserved with its hash. The accompanying JSON
records every retained citation and its matching context. No in-text citations
were manufactured. No bibliographic author, year, title, edition, or page data
were changed by this pass. A later manuscript rewrite must reassess its own
use of references rather than blindly reusing these counts.
